John McCook, known for his iconic role as Eric Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful, shared a heartfelt farewell to the legendary Television City studios in Hollywood as the show prepares to leave after decades of filming. In an emotional Instagram post, McCook reflected on his 50-year connection to the studio and the indelible memories that will always be tied to the place.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

McCook’s first experience at Television City wasn’t as an actor—his initial job was playing the piano. He recalled how music played a significant role in his life, making his first steps into the building a truly magical experience. For McCook, the history of the studio itself was captivating.

Stage 33 was a legendary space, once home to The Carol Burnett Show. McCook was in awe of its rich legacy, which included not only Burnett’s iconic sketches but also performances by entertainment titans like Judy Garland and Red Skelton. Yet the stage’s most famous moment might be when Elvis Presley made his live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

He recalled standing in the middle of the dark stage, closing his eyes, and feeling the echoes of applause, laughter, and the powerful music that had once filled the air. He felt that same magic every time he passed by. McCook knew the magic created by decades of performances would never fade.

It’s this kind of “magic” that McCook believes will never leave, no matter how many years go by or how many new shows come to occupy the space.

As The Bold and the Beautiful prepares to leave its long-time home in Stage 31, McCook expressed his belief that the magic his cast and crew created over nearly four decades will remain even as the physical space is emptied. The magic would live on in the very air.

The legacy of B&B and its history at Television City will remain, leaving an indelible mark on the entertainment world.
