Love interest? Check. Emotional scenes? Check. Joshua Hoffman hasn’t been on The Bold and the Beautiful a full year yet, but the young actor has checked off a lot of “firsts.” Now, thanks to his recent appearance on CBS talk show The Talk, Hoffman tells Soap Hub that he’s experienced yet another.

Joshua Hoffman: Something to Talk About

“It was really fun,” Hoffman tells Soap Hub about his recent appearance on The Talk along with other B&B stars Scott Clifton (Liam), Lawrence Saint-Victor (Carter), Matthew Atkinson (Thomas), and Tanner Novlan (Finn). Hoffman says he sought the advice of his B&B buddies as “I’d never done an onscreen interview before so, yes, this was really fun, super fun.”

Check out part of the interview here, which was conducted by The Talk hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, and Jerry O’Connell. Hoffman talked about the research he did once he was cast as RJ, which included observing the characteristics and physicality of TV dad, Thorsten Kaye (Ridge), and observing TV mom Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), too. Asked if RJ will be joining the family business (which RJ kind of already has), Hoffman deadpanned, “I cannot confirm or deny….yeah, no, I am.”

Hoffman also gave some scoop about how he handles kissing scenes on the show. After getting his lines down, a stage manager, Herbie, will supply the actor with some mints so he can have minty fresh breath!

After a few months of listening to the problems of his family members, RJ was thrown into the deep end after he started to learn about fashion from his dying grandfather, Eric (John McCook). As the story progressed, RJ became Eric’s confidante.

“John’s fantastic,” Hoffman proclaims. “I’ve been really lucky because a lot of the storyline has been him and me talking, working together, and RJ just being there for him. John gives me advice all the time in between takes.”

The Talk airs weekdays on CBS at 2 p.m. ET and 1 p.m. PT. The hosts are Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell, and Sheryl Underwood.
