Matthew Atkinson is turning in daily tour-de-force performances as tortured Thomas on The Bold and the Beautiful. Recently, the actor took a break from his heavy workload to chat with BB fans via the show’s official Instagram account.
Questions Answered With Matthew Atkinson
Here are the highlights from Atkinson’s interactions with the show’s fans via social media.
@cindyminogue writes: “Thomas’ head injury should be a result of Brooke pushing him off the cliff. Then Ridge will finally leave her. Also, the Doll is the best storyline you’ve had in ages. Thomas is the best character and Matthew is the best actor. Sad that Sally isn’t around to be his girl.” To which Atkinson replied: “Thank you!” @cindyminogue added: “oh and you’re really hot too!”
Some followers argue that Liam (Scott Clifton) is the true “villain” in this story. @sheena.m1325 wrote: “Thomas is right about Liam. He plays between both Hope and Steffy.” @paulakroff added: “I agreed totally, I’m so over stupid Liam he’s such a child. He should lose everything.” Atkinson replied: “Many people agree, including Thomas 😄.”
Atkinson displayed his dry wit throughout the Q&A session. Asked by @unusualll how he became this amazing actor, BB’s Thomas replied: “Fake it till you make it? 😄 Working with great actors helps a LOT.”
Numerous other posters complimented Atkinson on his fine performances and his work with Annika Noelle (Hope). One, @christinaerwin9866, in fact, says that she will riot if Atkinson isn’t nominated for a Daytime Emmy next year!
Asked by @giadamusi which was more fun — falling off a cliff, tumbling into acid, or screaming at the Hope mannequin, Atkinson replied: “Falling off a cliff came with a beautiful view in between takes.”
Asked by h@julie_foxy what story he’d like to tackle next (after Thomas gets healthy), Atkinson replied: “I’d love Thomas to be in a huge fashion storyline. I hope we have one soon!”
@michelechristine16 asked Atkinson how he keeps a straight face in scenes with the mannequin? “If it’s real in the moment and the cameras disappear,” the actor responds, “It’s no longer funny. Thought between scenes? It’s hard not to chuckle.”
One poster, @angelogiacopino, asked about Atkinson’s fitness routine and how many strength and cardio workouts he does each week? “Depends on my goal or what my goal is,” he replied. “When I’m boxing it’s a few boxing sessions a week and 2-3 Olympic lifting days, no excess cardio. If I’m doing HIIT [High Intensity Interval Training] training I usually incorporate heavy weights 3-5 times a week and do one HIIT workout 6 days a weeks.”
