Bill Spencer has been flying solo in the romance department these days on The Bold and the Beautiful, but there’s nothing but love for actor Don Diamont, Bill’s portrayer. And, there’s even more being directed toward the actor today.
That’s because he was born on December 31, 1962, in New York City, New York, which means that this talented actor is turning 61 years old today! Diamont – born Donald Feinberg – adopted his mother’s maiden name soon after landing an agent. He began his career as a model, eventually becoming much sought after by titans in the industry.
In 1984, Diamont was hand-picked by Ken Corday to appear on Days of our Lives. Diamont played Carlo Forenza for a full year and then accepted a role on a competing soap opera, The Young and the Restless.
At Y&R, he played gardener Brad Carlton, who exploited both his business acumen and good looks to climb Genoa City’s social ladder. His career — not to mention his life — was nearly derailed when his lunatic ex-wife Lisa Mansfield (Lynne Harbaugh) had him kidnapped and kept in a cage for quite some time. By the early 1990s, Brad was a respected Jabot executive who had had more than his share of romances in Genoa City, the highlight being his marriage to Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland).
Diamont exited the role of Brad in 1996 to pursue other acting opportunities and he subsequently appeared on Baywatch, Diagnosis Murder, and High Tide. He made a triumphant return to Y&R in 1998, and he remained there until executives released him from the show, killing the beloved character as he saved another (Noah Newman) from drowning in an icy lake.
In March of that year, it was announced that Diamont had accepted an offer to join the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful, and he made his debut on May 12 and has remained as “Dollar” Bill Spencer ever since.
In 1990, Diamont became the first daytime actor to be included in People Magazine’s list of Most Beautiful People In the World. Nineteen years later, the magazine declared him the Sexiest Veteran Soap Actor.
Outside of his acting and modeling career, Diamont is an active contributor and advocate for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and he is known for being the spokesman for Sure Ultra Dry products and the Morris Home Furnishings store in Dayton, Ohio.
Soap Hub would like to wish Don Diamont a very happy birthday, and you can too by clicking on the Twitter link below. Also, share your favorite memory of his work or if you’ve met him personally in the comments section.
