The Bold and the Beautiful Alum Joanna Johnson Celebrates Her Birthday

Though it’s been some time since Joanna Johnson graced The Bold and the Beautiful canvas with her presence, the multi-talented actress turned executive has a very special milestone to celebrate.

That’s because she was born on December 31, 1961, in Phoenix, Arizona, which means that this talented actress turns 62 years old on the last day of the decade! Upon graduating from the University of Southern California (with a degree in English Literature), Johnson pursued a career in acting and quickly landed bit parts in episodes of The New Mike Hammer, Riptide, The Twilight Zone, and in the horror film Killer Party.

In 1987, she was one of 16 people chosen to headline B&B, a brand new daytime soap opera from uber-producer/writer William J. Bell. Johnson played Caroline Spencer, editor-in-chief of Eye on Fashion magazine and the betrothed of playboy designer Ridge Forrester.

After a mere three years with the production, Johnson opted to vacate her role — ostensibly to pursue other acting opportunities — leading the writers to have Caroline succumb to an aggressive form of leukemia.

Years later, Johnson was back at B&B, this time playing Caroline’s heretofore unknown twin sister, Karen. Though fans were glad to have Johnson back on their screens, the writers never realized Karen’s full potential as a character and Johnson parted ways with the soap for the second time in 1994.

Subsequently, Johnson turned her attention to the creative side of television making, eventually selling a situation comedy to ABC — the Kelly Ripa/Faith Ford starring Hope & Faith — and becoming a much sought-after executive producer/writer/director.

But, no matter how busy Johnson is with the likes of The Fosters and Good Trouble, she has always been open to reprising the part of Karen — something that she did in 2009 and on multiple occasions between 2011 and 2014.
