Days of our Lives is revisiting a devilish storyline… Maurice Benard talks about Sonny’s General Hospital homecoming… and an original cast member is returning to The Young and the Restless… Here’s everything you missed in the daytime world — with links — in the Soap Hub soap opera news wrap.
The devil is headed back to Salem. Days of our Lives is about to revisit its wildest most controversial storyline ever. Here’s what we know so far.
Let’s Talk
Carson Boatman has hit the ground running as DAYS’ all-grown-up Johnny DiMera. Soap Hub interviewed the actor about his dynamic new daytime gig.
Finally, Sonny is heading home on General Hospital. Soap Hub chatted with actor Maurice Benard about his journey as “Mike” and his future in Port Charles.
Plus, GH’s Laura Wright was a recent guest on Benard’s YouTube show, State of Mind. The pair discussed their long on-screen separation as Carly and Sonny, while Wright also opened up about her divorce and the death of her parents.
Leading Ladies In and Out
In other GH news, the show just said goodbye to one of its popular leading ladies. Briana Nicole Henry has decided to exit her role as Jordan Ashford and posted a poignant goodbye on Instagram.
It Takes Teamwork
It’s the ultimate Christmas movie for GH fans. Donnell Turner (Curtis) is joining forces with former co-stars Teresa Castillo (ex-Sabrina) and Mark Lawson (ex-Austin) for Most Wanted Santa.
Meanwhile, at The Young and the Restless, original cast member Janice Lynde is reprising her role as Leslie Brooks for a few episodes. Find out what brings her back to Genoa City.
Brytni Sarpy has been busy as Elena on Y&R, but she found time to take on a new project, the film The Prince of Detroit. You can read all about it here.
Asking for Prayers
Former Y&R star Max Page, remembered as a young Reed Hellstrom, is back in the hospital awaiting another surgery. The actor, who was born with a heart condition, is asking everyone for prayers.
Visiting Angel
Richard Burgi (Ashland, Y&R) gave a big shout-out to his angelic niece on Instagram. She paid a special visit to his ailing 97-year-old mom and her grandmother bearing margaritas.
B&B’s Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas) has landed a new gig, too. The tyke was cast in a Freeform pilot that’s being temporarily called The Untitled Julie Durk Project.
B&B’s Denise Richards (Shauna) is shooting the film Wickensburg, and it’s got a connection to Days’ star Galen Gering (Rafe). His son Jensen is in the project and receiving lots of support from the daytime community.
Ilene Kristen, who burst on the daytime scene as Delia Reid Ryan on Ryan’s Hope, is set to co-star in the new play, 1-2-3 Manhunt, in New York City. In an exclusive interview, Kristen discussed her latest project, memories of Ryan’s Hope and One Life to Live, and the possibility of returning to GH.
Daytime Fave: Eva LaRue
Soap Hub is hosting another fireside chat for its newsletter subscribers, and the guest of honor is actress Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, All My Children; ex-Celeste, Y&R). Mark your calendar for Thursday, September 23, 2021, at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
