Between appearing on Cobra Kai, producing and starring in the digital soap Studio City, and portraying Deacon on The Bold and the Beautiful, Sean Kanan certainly has his daily bingo card filled. But none of that stops the busy actor from stretching his writing muscles. In addition, he and his wife Michele collaborated on the third book in his Way of the COBRA series, which focuses on couples and relationships. The two recently discussed what went into making the new tome.
Way of the COBRA, Kanan’s first book in the series, focused on unleashing one’s inner potential to succeed in life. His second book, Way of the COBRA: Welcome to the Kumite, took the lessons from the first book and expanded upon them. This helped the reader overcome major obstacles to success. Now, Kanan and his wife Michele have teamed up to write Way of the COBRA Couples, a book that teaches the reader “the mindset, philosophy and battle-tested strategies that led them to a life of meaningful happiness together,” according to the official website.

The third book’s description continued: “Discover how to build a fantastic partnership while maintaining your individual identity by becoming a COBRA Couple, not a statistic.” Much like the first two, this book is divided into chapters that correspond with a karate belt. Ultimately, the martial art is a metaphor for life and how to tackle life’s challenges.
Michele told Digital Journal that she initially didn’t want to give away their relationship secrets. “I was hesitant about telling how the sausage is made,” she said. “But in the end, I thought it came out really good. I think we shared enough about our relationship to inspire other people to look at their relationship and find the happiness in it.” Despite being someone who doesn’t like to share her personal business, she made an exception in this case and enjoyed building a guideline or “roadmap” for couples.

Kanan chimed in, explaining that each partner in a couple needs to maintain their individuality. “Love is not enough; it requires wisdom, strategy, and intentionality. Michele and I have been blessed with this incredible gift,” he said. Plus, he added, “We want everyone to experience it.” The Kanans will host a book launch party at the Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles, California, on October 8 at 7 pm. And fans are invited to attend. (Find out about how the Kanans’ daughter guest-starred on B&B.)
