Rome Flynn has worked regularly since leaving The Bold and the Beautiful as Zende. The actor has appeared on How To Get Away With Murder, Grey’s Anatomy, and, most recently, Chicago Fire. Now comes word that he’ll be looking for a new show to join.
The Chicago Fire Is Out
“Curtain call Chicago Fire,” Flynn posted along with a heart emoji. The actor completed six episodes as Derrick Gibson. His last air date was on the March 27th episode. Viewers saw Gibson have a breakdown and tell Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) that he needed to enter treatment due to withdrawals from prescription drugs.
Flynn’s Chicago Fire character was an ex-boxer who carried a dark past. There’s always the possibility that Flynn could return as Chicago Fire, along with Chicago Med and Chicago P.D. have all been renewed for the 2024-25 season.
Flynn’s fans were disheartened to discover they won’t be seeing him on a regular basis on the procedural drama. “Why even bring you and tease us like that and then book your out that’s unfair to the viewers stop breaking out hearts like this. They lost a good one,” wrote waynetenten on Flynn’s post.
Flynn’s other post-B&B roles include the series With Love, which aired from 2021-23, Family Reunion, The Rookie, Dear White People, and Raising Dion. Rome Flynn won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 2018. That category merged with Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series and has now been retired altogether.
