Molly McCook has a unique vantage point of The Bold and the Beautiful. As the daughter of original cast member John McCook, she’s seen the show up close. Now, she’s sharing a backstage look at her dad’s life there in a special video.
Molly McCook: Her Dad’s Life in Video
Molly, best known for her run as Tim Allen and Nancy Travis’s daughter Mandy on the long-running sitcom Last Man Standing, once had a role herself on B&B. She played Margot, a friend of Hope’s, around the time her then-beau Oliver (Zack Conroy) had accidental sex with Hope’s mom, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang).
“What a gift it’s been truly to him and our family because it’s so rare you have that job for so long as an actor,” Molly says of her dad’s tenure on B&B. which began prior to her birth. McCook’s daughter shared footage of her dad’s dressing room and all the photos and mementos that adorn it including family photos of Molly and her siblings, Jake and Becky.
There are also numerous photos of John McCook and the many people he’s worked with over the years both on B&B and on stage. In 1998, he did a production of Putting It Together with Carol Burnett (ex-Verla Grubbs, All My Children), who performed her legendary live variety program, The Carol Burnett Show, on the stage next to B&B back in the 1970s.

Molly also shared a photo of her dad with late B&B fan Carol Channing who appeared as herself on the show in 1993 when Forrester Creations put on a Hollywood-themed fashion show. McCook has among his prized possesses a note from Betty White, who used McCook’s room (which is right near B&B’s stage) when she appeared on the show as his mother-in-law, Ann Douglas.
“Truly every inch of these walls are covered with memorabilia and memories from the show and music that he made and people he’s inspired by,” Molly McCook adds. She also shows a certificate John received from the Daytime Emmy folks noting that her dad’s statuette for winning Best Actor in a Drama Series at the 2022 awards is at his home which he shares with wife Laurette McCook (Battlestar Galactica).

“Never leave anyone alone in your dressing room…” McCook quipped on the post that shows the video made by his talented daughter. His fellow daytime pals chimed in with responses about Molly’s expertise as a director and narrator. “Love this!! @mollyjmccook did an amazing job!! Love you McCookie!!! 🙌👏❤️,” posted Darin Brooks, who recently announced his exit from the show as Wyatt. The actor’s TV mom, Rena Sofer (ex-Quinn; Lois, General Hospital) shared, “You are a dream acting partner and a dream TV husband. You are the best. I miss you, I admire you, and I adore you!!!”
