Steffy and Finn’s romantic reunion in Monaco wouldn’t have been the same on Bold and the Beautiful without the scene being scored by the show’s composer John Nordstrom. The musician is responsible for many of the show’s most memorable themes. Soap Hub chatted with Nordstrom about how you can listen to B&B music whenever you want.
Almost two years ago, B&B released The Bold and the Beautiful Music from the Series Vol. 1. Now, Nordstrom’s composed enough music to fill up a Vol. 2. edition. “I was able to compose a ton of new music in the last two years,” he says.
While B&B is set in Los Angeles, Nordstrom, ironically, finds that creativity strikes him in the snowy months in Idaho, the state where he resides. “I find it very inspirational,” he says. “I wanted to get this music out there and I know that fans really wanted to hear again the music from when Finn and Steffy were reunited. That was a particular fan favorite.”
Viewers were on the edge of their seats waiting for Steffy and Finn to reunite. Nordstrom was lucky in that he got a sneak peek of the romantic #Sinn reunion so that he could score the scene with a special music theme for the duo. “I actually compose the picture while I’m watching it. Steffy was walking around Monaco and going into these incredible, centuries old churches, lighting candles,” the composer says. “You can hear the chimes and bells [from the church]. I wanted to incorporate [that into] what was happening.
“I knew it was going to be a big moment,” he continues. “I had to get the timing just right so that it sweetened the reunion and just brought everything home.”
The album contains other memorable scores and music cues including “Eric’s Legacy,” “Hope Gives In,” and “Finn Cures Eric.” (Finn might want to have that last particular music handy to play for Steffy in case he ends up defending Sheila one too many times, right?)
The Bold and the Beautiful Music from the Series Vol. 2 is available on Apple Music and Spotify. “Whether listeners are using it as something meditative or to have on in the background or if they’re hearing it while they’re driving, I’m just thrilled people are listening,” he says.
