The Bold and the Beautiful started the fireworks early this week. During its July 1 episode, someone poisoned Tom’s iced blue sports drink just before he hit the Il Giardino stage. There are several suspects, two of whom recently returned to the show. And by recently, we mean today. Justin and Jack returned just in time to find themselves in the middle of an impending mystery.
Short-Lived Comeback
Poor Tom (Clint Howard). Last week, he made moves that should have had him watching his back. Instead, he upset people with his words and actions. Ultimately, this led someone to poison his iced blue sports drink right before he grabbed his guitar to play for the legions of folks on the outside patio of Il Giardino.
And now we have a list of suspects who were all present and accounted for (mostly) at Deacon’s restaurant.
Deacon (Sean Kanan — who posted a throwback featuring Steve Burton): Deacon seemed genuinely happy to make Tom’s comeback happen. However, he also knew that Tom did some digging into his wife’s past. Deacon is very protective of his wife. Would he do anything to keep her past…in the past?
Sheila (Kimberlin Brown): Sheila looked footloose and fancy-free during Tom’s set. But we know Sheila doesn’t have a conscience. She could poison someone one second and dance worry-free the next. And she certainly didn’t like Tom digging into her past either. And she’s not one to let someone else do her dirty work, right?
Justin (Aaron D. Spears): Look who’s suddenly back and popping up at Il Giardino’s. Justin! While it’s beyond good to see Spears back in action at B&B, we know Justin is a shady individual. That brief hello to Sheila scene has us hella suspicious. Are those two in cahoots? Or is he back working for Dollar Bill (Don Diamont), and is there at Bill’s behest?
Li (Naomi Matsuda): Li showing up at Il Giardino to pick up her carry-out isn’t a bad alibi, but we don’t buy it. Did you see how alert and sus she looked during Tom’s concert? She and Jack barely toasted, and then she was off on her own. Why did she go there knowing Sheila would be there? Also, that paternity test that came up with Bill Spencer as Luna’s bio dad still has us thinking. Are Li and Poppy working together? Or is Li up to something else?
Jack (Ted King): It’s so great to see Ted King and Jack back on the B&B scene. The only thing is, why do they already have him involved in a potential poisoning? Jack has been off the canvas for the better part of a year. Let’s see what he feels about everything that’s going on. This is one of the only times we’re interested in flashbacks. We need to know more about what’s happening with Jack (and Justin) soon. That toast between Jack and Li was way too brief. We need more conversations, conflict, and insults flung between the two.
Poppy (Romy Park): Poppy skipped Tom’s concert (or so we are led to believe). However, she was there in Deacon and Sheila’s apartment right before. It was there she confronted Tom and told him to stop stalking her and Luna (Lisa Yamada). Tom kept incessantly claiming that he was Luna’s father. But it’s still unclear if that’s the truth. Poppy stuck with the story that Bill was the real dad. So, what is the truth? And did Poppy leave Il Giardino right away, or did she linger long enough to poison Tom and abruptly end his comeback run?
