It seems like the odds have been stacked against Steffy for a while on The Bold and the Beautiful. Not only finding out that the malicious Sheila was Finn’s mother, who shot them both, but also learning that her husband fathered the homicidal Luna. But things weren’t always rainbows and unicorns before that, and Jacqueline MacInnes Wood recently opened up about how she had some rough times in real life when she first started playing Steffy.
She Was Impulsive
In a conversation with Soaps, MacInnes Wood talked about what working on the show did to her after she began playing Steffy in June 2008. She explained that she was juggling quite a bit in her 20s, and felt that the adage of people that age being impulsive applied to her at the time.
She remarked, “I was drinking five-hour energy drinks to get me through the day and running on fumes.” All of that pushing to survive each day eventually took its toll on the actress. “I was running myself into the ground to the point where I didn’t even look like myself anymore,” she shockingly explained, adding, “I was so thin, and my skin was breaking out.”

She Was Just Solving Things With a Bandage
She visited a dermatologist, who prescribed medication. However, she felt that just doing that wasn’t really getting to the core of her issue. It was “more like putting a bandage over it.” It was at that point that she figured out that a sharper focus on her health was in order so she could recover her momentum and take control of her life.
“And that was before kids!” she eagerly noted. The actress, who is now expecting her fifth child, realized that because her family is continuing to grow, important lifestyle changes were in order. “Now, I have the added incentive of wanting to be healthy for not only myself and my husband, but for them, too,” she stated.
