It’s been a while since soap veteran Jacob Young appeared on The Bold and the Beautiful as legacy character Rick Forrester. He’s no stranger to daytime, but will this actor make a return to B&B or another soap anytime soon?
A Future So Bright
Soap Opera Digest caught up with Jacob Young recently, and he’s been very busy since his run on the CBS soap. Will he be back at B&B anytime soon? “I’ve done over 2,000 episodes of soaps since the age of 17, and I’m pretty worn out from that,” he told the publication. “By giving [soaps] up, I found that I was able to create all the passions and create other dreams for other people at the same time. And that means more to me than anything than being in front of the camera.
“I’m glad being able to live out my dreams and still be here for my wife [Christen] and my kids [Luke, 15, Molly, 10, and Grace, 7],” he continued. “I’ve been very lucky in my life, and I count my blessings every day.”
Of course, Young has been busy with other projects, including Four For Fun, which will appear on February 28 at The Golden State Film Festival in Hollywood, CA. He plays George. The movie also stars The Young and the Restless‘ Brytni Sarpy as George’s wife, Desirae.
Young drew upon his soap opera past when he needed to locate a mansion for shooting the movie. After a lot of nos, Young finally turned to a former General Hospital producer that he knew from his time on the soap as Lucky. “I called Shelley Curtis because I knew she’s got a couple of houses around this town,” he said. “She’s like, ‘Well, it sounds like you need the Bel Air house. The only problem is, I’m renting it to the guys that run one of those real estate reality shows. Let me call them and see if they’re okay with it.’ She called back, and she said, ‘Yeah, they said they’re fine with it so, you can shoot there.'”
Young also has another project starting next month, a movie, Murder Between Friends, which also has several other soap opera stars in it. “I fly to Prague to direct it with Dame Joan Collins [Alexandra, Guiding Light; Alexis, Dynasty],” he told the magazine. “I’ll be out there from March 24th to April 17th, and I’m in it as well. And then we have Toby Alexander Smith, a young guy, a handsome guy, from Eastenders [Gray], the BBC soap, and then Nadia Bjorlin [Chloe, Days of our Lives] is also attached. I hired her to play my love interest in the film, and this is a really cool project. We’ve already rented the castle that we’re shooting at.”
At this point, it’s not looking good for Young’s fans for his return to daytime. It seems like he’s enjoying life away from soap operas, but you can check in him out in his upcoming films.
