Taylor learned she has broken heart syndrome on The Bold and the Beautiful. Interestingly, she hasn’t taken the news of her new diagnosis well. She wants another opinion. However, it might not come from a cardiologist. She could use a psychiatric opinion instead.
Dr. Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig) and Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) went to get a second opinion from Dr. Grace Buckingham (Cassandra Creech). Taylor underwent a series of tests that determined she had broken heart syndrome, commonly referred to as takotsubo syndrome, according to John Hopkins Medicine.
This condition is described as weakened heart muscle. Taylor struggled with the news of her diagnosis. She insisted that she didn’t have a broken heart. During Friday’s October 4th episode, Taylor and Ridge returned to the cliffhouse after her doctor’s appointment.
She told him that she needed another doctor’s opinion. Maybe she could get one from a psychiatrist. Even well-known psychiatrists like Taylor carry emotional trauma. Broken heart syndrome can start as a mental health condition and can turn into a serious health problem if left untreated.
Ridge broke Taylor’s heart more than once. She’s been carrying that weight over the years. Taylor hasn’t allowed herself to heal because she hasn’t allowed herself to move on. There’s still some part of her that wants Ridge.

This raises the question of whether Taylor is in denial over her feelings for Ridge. She maintained that she was not in love with Ridge anymore. She feels something is seriously wrong with her heart, and she doesn’t think her health condition can be cured with a kiss.
Ridge suggested that Taylor doesn’t want to face what’s really going on with her. Taylor told him she was not the type of woman to end up with a broken heart. But Ridge believed that he could have made an impression on her. This news stroked his ego a little. He’s been eating it up.
Yet, it’s up to Taylor to admit she’s still pining over Ridge. Taylor still doesn’t want anyone to find out, including her family and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang). She asked Ridge not to tell a soul. What she doesn’t realize is that her diagnosis could trauma bond them and bring them back together.
Taylor should get a psychiatric opinion. It could give her the dose of reality she needs. From there, she could fully move on and allow herself to heal.
Instead, she’s entertained the idea of reuniting with Ridge. She’s even let her kids’ opinions get to her. It’s no wonder Taylor struggles to move on from Ridge.
