Taylor Hayes is an iconic character on The Bold and the Beautiful. There’s been many actresses who played the beloved doctor, but Hunter Tylo is the most famous. It’s been six years since Tylo’s final appearance and she’s opening up about the show recasting her role.
Seal Of Approval?
Tylo originated the role of Taylor in 1990 and played the world-renowned psychiatrist on and off until 2019. Taylor was a popular character whose feud with Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) over Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) dominated the airwaves.
When the show wanted Taylor to come back in 2021, they reached out to Tylo. However, the actress turned them down. In an interview with The Unexpected Cosmology, Tylo recalled telling her bosses she didn’t want to return. “They said, ‘Well, if you don’t, then we are going to recast you.’ I said, ‘Okay, all right.”
B&B found their new Taylor in former Days of Our Lives actress Krista Allen. As it turns out Tylo and Allen were friends and shared the same manager. But Tylo had no ill will towards Allen taking over the role of Taylor. “I don’t know if they thought that might make me mad. But it didn’t.”
Allen had big shoes to fill when she took over for Tylo, but the star made the role her own. Fans warmed up to Allen’s version, and the actress earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for her work. However, after two years as Taylor, Allen was let go in 2023.
Nearly a year after Allen’s exit, the show recast Taylor with former All My Children and General Hospital actress Rebecca Budig. It’s unknown what Tylo’s thoughts are on Budig’s Taylor. But chances are Tylo isn’t upset with the latest recast.
While Budig is now entertaining fans as Taylor on B&B, Tylo is living a quiet and happy life away from Hollywood. However, fans will never forget the actress in the soap role that made her famous.
