In the Wednesday, May 1 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Deacon and Finn continued to care for Sheila. And at Il Giardino, Liam and Ivy continued to reconnect. However, Steffy spied their sudden closeness. What do Ivy and Sheila’s returns mean?
After today’s episode, it feels like one of Ivy Forrester’s (Ashleigh Brewer) main goals is to rebuild Liam Spencer’s character. For the last few weeks and months, Liam (2024 Daytime Emmy Nominee Scott Clifton — who talks about the Emmys here) has been soul-searching. He’s trying to own up to his waffling part in his tumultuous relationships with Hope (2024 Daytime Emmy Nominee Annika Noelle) and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood).
At the same time, he sees that both women have moved on, and he’s alone. As a result, he feels lost. His attempts at recapturing his magic with Steffy haven’t gone anywhere because Steffy and Finn are solid (at least for now). So Liam is lost and alone and doesn’t have much going on.
Enter Ivy Forrester, another one of his ex-wives. She tells him everything he wants to hear. How good-looking he is. How lucky any woman would be to have him in their life. He hasn’t aged at all. In fact, she lays it on really thick. On top of the verbal seduction, she takes his face in her hand and kisses him. Suddenly, this propping of Liam helps bring his confidence back.
In the end, Steffy spies one of their kisses and immediately heads over to their Il Giardino table, complete with sassiness, wondering why her cousin hadn’t reached out to her while in town. And noticed how “cute” Ivy and Liam were. Sarcasm in full force.
Ivy’s return isn’t permanent, at least not right now. So, is her purpose to help Liam get battle-ready when Steffy and Finn inevitably hit a rough(er) patch in their marriage? Also, should Ivy’s words remind viewers about Liam’s viability as a love interest?
Elsewhere, the nine-toed Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) looked ragged and disheveled. Deacon (Sean Kanan) and Finn (Tanner Novlan) tracked her down to an abandoned warehouse where, apparently, Sugar (also Kimberlin Brown) had her shacked up and chained up. (Find out when Sheila will tell her tale about Sugar here)
At this warehouse, Finn let his Sheila Carter flag fly high and proud. He emotionally called her mom and cared for her. Moreover, the doctor held her as if he’s known her for his entire life.
Meanwhile, Steffy worried about her husband and that she hadn’t heard from him yet. Her mantra was, “Sheila is dead. Sheila is dead. Sheila is dead. I killed her.” But each time she utters any variation of those words, her voice gets weaker and weaker. She has a bad feeling, and for good reason. (Check out a photo recap of yesterday’s episode here)
Because she knows the minute it’s proven that Sheila Carter is alive, everything will change. Wait until she gets a load of her husband calling Sheila “mom” and being so gentle with her. It is as if everything that the woman has done to him and his wife’s family goes out the window. Steffy won’t be able to unsee that, which means a terribly bumpy road that will certainly threaten their marriage.
And who will be waiting for that crevice in their relationship to crack open wide? Liam, who, once again, thinks he’s a catch.
