On The Bold and the Beautiful, Carter Walton has stopped simply reporting the numbers and projections. That’s what the Forresters have come to expect from him. And now that he’s stepping up and coming up with ideas, the COO is ruffling a few feathers, most notably Steffy Forrester, the Co-CEO of Forrester Creations. Why is Carter suddenly making power moves? Lawrence Saint-Victor has thoughts.
This week on B&B, Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) didn’t just brainstorm an idea. He acted on it. He basically ambushed Steffy with the idea of reintroducing jewelry to the fashion house. And he didn’t wait for an okay. Instead, he proactively reached out to Ivy Forrester (Ashleigh Brewer) and invited her to the table. He didn’t give Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) a heads up or word of warning, which is so unlike Carter. And then he urged Steffy to at least listen to what Ivy had to say.
“it can be very jarring to see him not back down, to see him push something,” Lawrence Saint-Victor told Soaps.com. “But I do think he has a bit of a healthy ego.”
After Steffy turns down the Electra jewelry line proposal, his healthy ego might feel a bit bruised. But Forrester’s latest corporate drama seems shaping up to be a battle between Steffy and Carter, who have respected each other in the past. “She might be feeling disrespected by Carter,” Saint-Victor revealed. “But he’s feeling disrespected by her. He’s like, ‘I’m your COO. Why aren’t you hearing me? You can say no, but let’s really talk about this first.'”
While a CEO’s duty is to deal with a company’s big-picture problems and potential, the COO’s duty is to worry about the day-to-day operations and work with the CEO on their vision for the company. What he’s doing may well be within his rights. “[Carter] is in an important enough position at Forrester that he should be able to question his CEOs and have a discussion,” Saint-Victor said.

But there have to be more graceful and successful ways of doing this than using ambush and blindside techniques. Having said that, this new side of Carter, while jarring, is something that should have happened a long time ago. After all, the Forresters have all acknowledged that Carter is family.
Unfortunately for him, he’s only family to a point. Remember when he and Quinn (Rena Sofer) were involved? Carter was on the outs for a bit. So, until certain Forresters find out that he’s harboring feelings for Hope Logan (Annika Noelle), his input should continue to be valued. But there’s no telling how Steffy will react once she’s clued into Hope and Carter’s sudden romantic and professional alliance. Carter might want to think about updating his resume.
