Watching Crew Morrow settle into his role as Will on The Bold and the Beautiful has been highly entertaining, particularly because he’s had a hard time keeping his eyes in his head with all the gorgeous women at Forrester Creations. But, he found love almost right away with Electra, although her dark and mysterious past threatens to jeopardize that. The son of Young and the Restless Joshua Morrow, the actor gave some insight into playing opposite his new love interest and his TV parents.
Before getting his role on B&B, Morrow had auditioned for both General Hospital and Days of Our Lives. He told Digital Journal that after he was booked to appear in his first film, he took the risk of dropping out of school. He had gotten into acting without the help of his soap star Dad, and upon dropping out, explained, “I called up my mom, and I told her that I would drop out… and that was a big step for me because I was going into a risky business, but it has played out well, and I haven’t looked back since.”
With his career taking off in a major way, he noted, “I only got into acting on my own whims. I don’t think my dad necessarily wanted me to become an actor, but that’s the way things fell.” Don Diamont plays his on-screen dad, Bill, and Heather Tom plays his Mom, Katie. He remarked, “They’re both great. They are such veterans and such pros, so it is always nice having scenes with those vets.”
Morrow further stated that his TV parents were well-versed in the soap world, and their vast knowledge of their characters’ history allowed them to create believable performances. He also praised Will’s romantic partner, Electra, played by Laneya Grace. Happy to have her as a scene partner, he gushed, “Laneya is such a sweetheart, and I am so glad he is on the show,” adding that he admires her very professional approach and is “Excited for future scenes with her.”
The actor also stated that the way to learn large volumes of dialogue, as is the case in most soap operas, “repetition” is his main strategy. He also used his real-life father’s methods when going to auditions, and that is to “swing big,” meaning do something that makes the casting director and/or producers remember you. Because one could be going up against hundreds of others for a part, his advice was, “Make it memorable, do something big, and slay the dragon.”
