The 49th Annual Daytime Emmys, set to air on Friday, June 24 at 9 p.m. isn’t the only night you’ll be able to see your soap opera favorites. Key categories are going to be given out a week earlier. Soap Hub has all the details on when the gold is being awarded.
In 2015, the folks at the Daytime Emmys re-introduced a category that had existed in previous forms — Outstanding Guest Actor in a Daytime Drama Series. This year, the winner will be invited to walk up on stage not during the main broadcast but during the Lifestyle and Creative Arts ceremony set for Saturday, June 18.
That means this year’s batch of nominees in the Outstanding Guest Performance in a Drama Series category — The Bold and the Beautiful’s Ted King (Jack Finnegan) and Naomi Matsuda (Li Finnegan), Robert Gossett (Marshall Ashford, General Hospital), Michael Lowry (Dr. Clay Snyder, Days of our Lives), and Ptosha Storey (Naomi Benedict, The Young and the Restless) — will be bringing some star power to The 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards ceremony.
Other categories presented on Saturday, June 18 include Outstanding Daytime Special. Nominated in that category are the programs 20th Anniversary Commemoration of 9/11, the 95th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Dark Shadows and Beyond – The Jonathan Frid Story, Recipe for Change, and Shelter Me: Soul Awakened.
Also set for The 49th Annual Daytime Creative Arts & Lifestyle Emmy Awards are the categories: Outstanding Culinary Series, Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program, Outstanding Lifestyle Program, Outstanding Travel, Adventure and Nature Program, Outstanding Instructional and How-To Program, Outstanding Arts and Popular Culture Program, Outstanding Entertainment News Series, Outstanding Daytime Special, Outstanding Short Form Daytime Program, Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program, Outstanding Daytime Promotional Announcement, Outstanding Culinary Host, Outstanding Daytime Program Host, Outstanding Writing Team for a Daytime Non-Fiction Program, and Outstanding Directing Team for a Single Camera Daytime Non-Fiction Program.
