Delon de Metz, or rather his character, Zende Forrester Dominguez, was an odd man out in the Paris/Carter/Zoe triangle, and Thomas’s designs appeared to be the only hope that Hope For The Future had. However, now de Metz tells Soap Hub that there’s more to come as Zende takes center stage on The Bold and the Beautiful.
“I’ve been waiting for this!” de Metz enthused to Soap Hub on the red carpet at the 50th Annual Daytime Emmys. “It’s been fantastic. It’s nice to show different colors to Zende. Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] pulled me aside and said, ‘Do you want to cut loose a little bit?'”
Needless to say, de Metz responded with a resounding “Yes!” as evidenced by his recent performances in which Zende expressed his feelings over RJ (Joshua Hoffman) moving up the design ladder at Forrester Creations.
“What’s interesting here is that everything is super-motivated,” de Metz says. “We’ve been waiting for this!” The actor says it was great to play Zende’s frustration, and he wishes he’d gotten to play the anger a bit longer, but everything changed after he found out that Eric (John McCook) was dying. (Read more about that here.)
“I will tease that there’s more stuff coming up,” de Metz says. He justifies Zende’s continued concern towards RJ by pointing out that while it’s logical RJ would want to be there for his grandfather, he didn’t necessarily have to start designing. “RJ could have been doing something at Forrester as an intern or with social media,” de Metz suggests, hastening to point out that RJ entering Zende’s realm fosters great drama.
“On a surface level, yes, it made sense,” de Metz says once Zende learned of Eric’s illness and why RJ was there for their granddad. “But now we’re seeing it get fleshed out.” You can watch the entire interview below.
