In the Wednesday, April 24 episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Deacon started laying out what he discovered about Sheila and Sugar. According to Lauren Fenmore, the two look identical thanks to Sheila’s conniving ways (not Deacon’s words). Deacon talks to Finn like Sheila being alive is the outcome he wants and needs. Is that true? Will Finn be excited to learn that Sheila’s not dead?
Shouldn’t Finn (Tanner Novlan) feel relief because Sheila’s gone? Yes, his wife struggles with her part in it. And, yes, Finn and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) had a connection. But that so-called connection never seemed to be more than a slight pull and the knowledge that this was the woman who gave birth to him.
The other day, when Hope (2024 Daytime Emmy Annika Noelle) asked him if he wished Sheila were alive, he deflected instead of answering truthfully. He basically said, she’s not, so why even dignify that question with a response. The last couple of days it’s been nice to see the stress drain from Finn and Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) marriage. They’ve really worked on erasing any divisive feelings created because of Finn’s biological tie to Sheila.
This connection that’s often talked about is beyond perplexing, especially since, a) Finn knows the pain and anguish and damage his birth mom has done to his wife and her family; b) Sheila has done considerable damage and destruction to her son — she shot him and held him captive; c) Everything he continues to learn about Sheila is nothing good.
Sure, she’s his birth mom, but what kind of woman does all these heinous things? How can someone even write off her behavior? When Finn thinks with his brain, he’s good to go. Sheila’s a non-factor in his life. But when it comes to his heart, does he truly feel like he loves the woman? Or is it that he feels he’s supposed to have this connection to her?
Meanwhile, the way Deacon (Sean Kanan) acts is that Finn should be as excited as he is to know there’s a possibility that Sheila’s alive. That part of Deacon is beyond delusional, even though his theories seem to add up.
It’s so frustrating because Deacon can’t think past his own needs. If he really thought about it, he’d realize that the possibility that the woman he loves is alive is only because the maniacal woman tricked somebody into getting plastic surgery to look identical to her. Why is this a woman he wants to find? She will always think about herself and her needs.
Teasers suggest that Finn and Deacon embark on a quest to discover the truth later this week. What will Finn’s mindset be? Will it be to disprove Deacon’s theory, or will he be on board rushing to find his birth mom? At this point, it’s hard to know. It’d be great if Finn worked against Deacon’s plan.
