Daytime Emmy Winning Writer Michele Val Jean Exits B&B

Veteran daytime writer Michele Val Jean has confirmed on social media that she is leaving her gig at The Bold and the Beautiful. Fans are speculating that she may return to familiar stomping grounds in the near future.

‘A Great Ride’

Matt Hanvey, B&B’s most ardent (and hilarious) devotee, posted on Twitter his response to Val Jean’s news after sharing that he read on Instagram that the scribe was leaving B&B. “It seems like yesterday when you came on board, but that was so long ago now,” Hanvey tweeted. “Thanks for all the years of scripts! Can’t wait to see what you do next!”

“Thanks, Matt. It’s been a great ride. xoxo,” Val Jean replied, confirming the news.

Val Jean joined the B&B team in 2012 and won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Writing Team for her work on the half-hour show in 2015, 2016, and 2020. Her last statuette was for the baby Beth storyline. The episodes involved Beth being stolen shortly after birth to the climax where Liam (Scott Clifton) and Hope (Annika Noelle) celebrated that their baby was alive.

The scribe started out her writing career on Jake and the Fat Man. Next, she joined the writing team at Generations; after that show ended she became a writer on Santa Barbara. After the beloved NBC soap ended, Val Jean joined the writing team of General Hospital where she remained until 2012. She has four Daytime Emmys and four Writers Guild of America Awards for writing GH. During her time at B&B, she moonlighted on the short-lived OWN series Ambitions where she served as a writer and consulting producer.

Val Jean’s X, formerly Twitter, followers are speculating on where she might land next. “Not going to lie…my heart just skipped a beat! Praying for a GH return. We need and want you back!” wrote Missy B. Added Miag23 (AKA Luci): “Good luck Michele. Love your writing.” Soap Hub joins Val Jean’s followers in wishing her all the best in the future.
