The Bold and the Beautiful is no stranger to breaking barriers in daytime, and now, the soap has cast actor Harrison Cone to introduce its very first gay couple.
Harrison Cone Joins B&B
Deadline was first to announce that B&B is gearing up to feature its very first male gay couple this fall. Harrison Cone, known for The Summer I Turned Pretty and American Horror Stories, is said to be playing “an aspiring fashion designer at Forrester Creations” and will be in a relationship with Christian Weissmann’s Remy. It’s also been teased that Cone’s character will have ties to other familiar faces in B&B’s fictional Los Angeles.
Cone will make his B&B debut on September 16. (Find out what happened on the September 10 B&B).
Who Walked So These Newcomers Could Run?
This is far from the first time B&B featured LGBTQ+ characters. Not only did we watch love unfold between lesbian couple Karen (Joanna Johnson) and Danielle (Crystal Chappell) in 2012, but Beyond The Gates’ Karla Mosley played Maya, daytime’s very first regular transgender character in 2015.
The other CBS soaps followed suit when Mariah (Camryn Grimes) came out in 2017 and fell in love with Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) on The Young and the Restless, while BTG’s Smitty (Mike Manning) and Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) marriage has been a front burner storyline from the show’s start in February or this year.
Other fan favorite male gay couples in daytime have included Days of our Lives’ Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Zach Tinker) and Leo (Greg Rikaart) and Javi (Al Calderon); General Hospital’s Brad (Parry Shen) and Lucas (Van Hansis); and As The World Turns’ Luke (Van Hansis) and Noah (Jake Silbermann).
