Soap opera actors deal with fake stories on the daily, from baseless rumors about their exit from a daytime drama to invasive speculations into their private lives. Typically, the stars and team behind a series won’t address these stories. But there are times when speaking up is necessary. The Bold and the Beautiful producer Casey Kasprzyk has taken to X to dispel a rumor that’s gained traction about Thorsten Kaye.

Thorsten Kaye Is Not Leaving B&B

Speculation about when a soap star could be leaving their show is commonplace, especially during major storylines. However, gossip surrounding a possible exit doesn’t usually come with unsubstantiated claims the actor is sick. Due to the severity of the rumors swirling about Kaye’s health, Kasprzyk made a call out post.

He shared with fans, “We never comment on rumors like this, but there’s one in particular about Thorsten Kaye that I’d like to state is completely false. Pure trash created for clicks and gossip.”

Kasprzyk linked to an article “reporting” that Kaye is in the middle of a health crisis. The article falsely states that the actor has been diagnosed with liver cancer.

The producer addressed the claims to settle concerned B&B fans, including his mother, who’d reached out. The article manufactured a behind-the-scenes crisis in which the soap’s production team was scrambling to write contingencies in case Kaye has to exit the role of Ridge for health reasons.

Kasprzyk’s callout is a reminder to viewers to source their information from reputable news outlets. At the bear minimum, a publication worth its salt won’t feature articles full of mistakes and misspellings. The writer will back their reporting up with facts and clearly state when a talking point is based on hearsay or hasn’t been confirmed. They also won’t go on to speculate about storylines when reporting serious subject matter like an actor’s cancer diagnosis.

If you’re unsure about information you see online about a soap actor, check to see if other sites have reported what you’ve read. Most times, if it’s accurate, multiple outlets will have covered the news.
