Dr. Li Finnegan had issues with her sister Poppy, played by Romy Park, on The Bold and the Beautiful before she started a relationship with Bill Spencer. Park recently shed light on the dynamic between the two sisters.
Romy Park: My Sister’s Shadow
Li has said that Poppy is only interested in landing a rich man. So one can imagine how she’ll react to learning about Poppy and Bill. Throw in that Li had her own developing dynamic with Bill and things will likely grow more intense between the two women.
“[T]his just confirms everything Li already believed,” Park shared with Soaps.com. “She thinks that Poppy is manipulative and conniving, which couldn’t be further from the truth!”
Park offered that jealousy is at the core of Li not liking Poppy — not so much that Poppy would like some security in her life. The actress says: “Li has this image of Poppy in her head, this idea of who she is.” Park also acknowledges that Li is green with envy that Poppy had a biological child — Luna (Lisa Yamada) — and Li hasn’t. (Find out more about Park here.) “She’s not a happy woman,” Park says of Li. “In some ways, Li sees Poppy as everything she’s not. Not that she would ever admit that!”
Past Imperfect
Li went to bat for her sister and got her a job at a hospital where they both worked. The good doctor took it personally when it came out that Poppy was having a fling with a married physician. Oops. But let’s face it, as long as Poppy was doing her job, Li shouldn’t have cared. It takes two to tango. Poppy’s love interest was equally responsible for the relationship. Maybe Li is simply jealous of her sister?
We expect Li to face an uphill battle if she’s going to want to derail her sister’s search for happiness in Los Angeles. Li might be better off focusing on her patients and not meddling in her sister’s life. Bill’s a single man. He and Poppy have potential. Li, let it be!
