Ashley Jones is in the middle of promoting her new Lifetime movie The Girl Who Survived: The Alina Thompson Story, but that doesn’t mean she didn’t have time to tease what’s next for Bridget on The Bold and the Beautiful.
In an interview with Soap Opera Network, Jones said she’ll be returning to the soap in October and her scenes involve actors she hasn’t worked with before. She couldn’t share details beyond stating she’s doing something she hasn’t done before, but she did give her two cents on a forbidden romance fans have been hoping for between Bridget and Finn.
A Hospital Affair
Sinn fans have dealt with their share of trouble in Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Finn’s (Tanner Novlan) marriage. But the turbulence they’ve weathered largely has to do with the good doctor’s family not romantic entanglements. However, this hasn’t stopped some B&B fans from wondering who else Finn could be paired with and Bridget has been a contender in the conversation.
Jones mentioned she’s seen the speculation online. Though she recognizes that much of what happens on-screen comes from a spark B&B executive producer and co-head writer Bradley Bell can see between two characters, Jones shared her opinion on the fan ship.
I think it’s an obvious choice for Finn and Bridget to have something. They work so well–we work so well together. It doesn’t always have to be romantic. Although, I wouldn’t mind that either because Bridget hasn’t had a romance in quite awhile. We wonder like ‘What does she do outside the hospital?’ There’s a lot of little avenues she could take…but the bottom line is, if they write it, I will be there as long as I’m available.
In the past year, Bridget and Finn have been in two major storylines together, both medical cases. Finn saved her father, Eric (John McCook), from the brink of death with an experimental procedure. And, they were consulting doctors on Dr. Grace Buckingham’s (Cassandra Leech) brain cancer case with Liam (Scott Clifton). When it comes to medicine, the two tend to be on the same page. That’s a connection that could grow if the writers see fit.
An Alternative To Romance
As Jones mentioned, Bridget hasn’t had a romance on B&B in years. Her last on-screen pairing was with Owen Knight (Brandon Beemer), the father of her son, Logan. It’s been over a decade. Bridget could use some spice in her life, even if that isn’t toppling the soap’s newest destined romance, Sinn.
But her latest venture on the daytime drama could bring her into Deke’s (Harrison Cone—Could his casting mean Amber returns?) orbit. His father, Deacon (Sean Kanan), is her ex-husband after all, and Deke’s sister, Hope (Annika Noelle), is her sister, too. B&B rarely brings up the Logans’ tangled history, but this would be the perfect opportunity to talk about the elephant in the room.
