Maya Avant on The Bold and the Beautiful felt she couldn’t live a true, authentic life until she transitioned into being a woman. In real-life, Maya’s portrayer, Karla Mosley, grapples with her own issues related not to sexual orientation, but to a different matter.
Karla Mosley On Eating Disorders
We’ve seen in recent weeks a funny short that the talented Heather Tom (Katie) put together about the anxiety some are feeling not being able to fit into their jeans as some may be eating more or differently while self-quarantined. Now, Mosley is addressing the issue of body image and food in a recent response to a tweet.
TV and podcast personality Crisse (known as King Crissle on Twitter) suggested to her near 200,000 followers recently on Twitter that “Your body is keeping. you. alive. during. a. global. pandemic. The least you can do is not cuss it out for doing its best.”
“I really appreciate this – it hit my heart directly,” Mosley responded to the post. “As someone with a history of #EatingDisorders I find that focusing on my body size is low hanging fruit for my anxiety and self hate speech. The only antidote? Self love.”
Mosley has spoken out about her struggles with eating disorders in the past, admitting she first started a negative relationship with her body as a teen. Wanting to become a dancer compounded the problem.
She admitted she suffered from bulimia and obsessive exercise. She said she felt even more pressure being an African-American female to fit in. To learn more about how she perseveres, click here. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
