The Bold and the Beautiful star Karla Mosley was never on the NBC soap Passions, but she’s quoting some of that show’s opening song lyrics — “breathe in, breathe out” — hoping to help people employ some breathing work to help reduce the anxiety that many are, understandably, going through these days!
Karla Mosley Wants To Help
“I’m not a licensed teacher,” Mosley states upfront on her Instagram post, “but here are two soothing breathing techniques that are simple and help me find center again quickly. Hope it helps!”
Mosley, who joined BB as Maya Avant in 2013, says she’s learned about breathing by taking yoga classes. The first one, she says, is really simple if you know how to do one thing. “The first one may not be accessible to 50% of you because you have know how to roll your tongue,” Mosley explains. “If you can, roll it and [then] breathe in and out through [your] rolled tongue. And that’s it! It’s simple.”
The best part, The Bold and the Beautiful star says, is that this can be done anywhere. “No one can see what you’re doing behind your mask,” she says with a smile. “You can be in the grocery line doing this and no one will think you’re a weirdo!”
The second technique, Mosley says, is called “alternate nostril breathing.” It calls for doing just what you might imagine based on its name. “Take your hand and block off one nostril, breathe in, then, block off the other, and breathe out. I like to think of it as a little square.”
Mosley suggests holding to a count of 3 to start, then moving up to 5. “You can do it for as long as you wish,” she adds. “I hope [this] brings a little peace to your day.”
Again, as Mosley notes, she is not a licensed teacher. It’s important to wash your hands before and after touching your face. As always, consult a doctor before embarking on any physical activity.
