The Bold and the Beautiful’s Eric Forrester is father to eight. Off-screen, his portrayer, John McCook, is the show’s unofficial patriarch, known for his sage advice to newcomers and his humor, too. In real life, the actor has a heartfelt wish for his own children.
“My Dad got a job in the oil fields of So. Cal. In 1922 when he was 19 …he retired in 1964,” McCook recalls. “As hard as he worked he never smelled bad… just of oil and kerosene (scents for which I have an abiding affection). He thought his kids were the best things he ever saw and that they never did anything wrong. He was hard of hearing in the end and still funny at 93. I pray every day that I last that long and that I can still make my kids laugh, too.”
McCook has four children: two sons, Seth and Jake, and two daughters Becky and Molly McCook (Last Man Standing). The actor’s sentiment didn’t go unnoticed by his social media followers, which include his co-stars and daytime pals. “Wonderful !👍👏❤️🙌,” posted Doug Davidson (Paul). Added Ashley Jones, who plays McCook’s on-screen daughter Bridget, “😭 sweetest. 😘.”
“So cool!! 👍😎👍😎,” wrote Darin Brooks (Wyatt). Former BB co-star Dan McVicar (Clarke) wrote: “❤️❤️🙌.”
“What a great photo and family heritage,” posted one of McCook’s followers @bdeveraux23. “Thanks for sharing. My viewer perception of you seems to be that you are quite the gentleman with a twinkle in your eye and you adore your family. 😊.”
McCook’s an original cast member of BB, appearing in the show’s premiere episode on March 23, 1987. When the series began, Eric was revealed to have had four children – Ridge (Thorsten Kaye), Thorne (Winsor Harmon), Kristen (Tracy Melchior) and Felicia (Lesli Kay). Then, it was revealed that Eric and Stephanie (Susan Flannery) also had had another daughter, Angela.
Eric and his second wife, Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), had two children — Rick (Jacob Young) and Bridget. Finally, Eric adopted Marcus (Texas Battle), the long-lost son of his then-wife Donna (Jennifer Gareis). Whew! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
