This coming Friday, June 26, 2020, the soap world welcomes The Daytime Emmys back to broadcast television as CBS will air the ceremony in a most unusual way. Stars will accept their nominations from home in a virtual event due to the coronavirus. Now, CBS soaps are sharing Emmy highlights from its nominees and The Bold and the Beautiful’s Heather Tom, nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series.
Take a walk down memory lane of Katie’s last year as we see Heather Tom’s heartbreaking performances as Katie. Watch her confront Flo (Katrina Bowden) after learning she kept Hope’s baby from her for nearly a year. And then see her suffer from kidney failure in the hospital and pray to live to be there for her son. (It was Flo who came through with a donor kidney.)
BB made its debut in 1987 and introduced glitz and glamour to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, three decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.
From Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) iron grip on her family to Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) evil schemes to the epic love story of Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), BB knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Young and the Restless (YR). BB airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
