The Centers For Disease Control (CDC) and other medical experts are recommending the wearing of masks when out in public and in stores during the coronavirus pandemic, but The Bold and the Beautiful star Courtney Hope has noted there’s one drawback in particular to masks — they hide smiles!
Courtney Hope: Miles of Smiles
“A smile can turn a whole day around,” notes Hope, who plays the feisty and fiery Sally Spectra on the half-hour soap. “The light it exudes is so magnetic that it can heal the deepest wounds, even if just for a brief second. There are days I need someone else’s smile to bring some love into my life when I’m having trouble mustering up my own, and other days I can’t wait to share my joy with others.”
Courtney Hope wishes she could share her smile more these days, especially as smiles are needed, but she understands that this is temporary. “I know this won’t be forever, but in the meantime I hope you join me on this journey of giving a little bit more than maybe some of us are used to,” the actress says. “Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we all could use some uplifting words now and then. I know I could.”
In the video Hope posted along with that message, she talked about a recent trip out wearing a mask and smiling at someone near her but she realized that person couldn’t see her smile. “Maybe she saw my eyes if she was really looking at them, or maybe she just didn’t notice,” Hope said. “And it just made me really sad.
“I understand why we are doing this, I really do,” she continued. “And people’s health and wellness and safety come first.” That is why she decided to make the video. To help with mental wellness and let you know that even behind the mask, some people do notice your smile.
