The frustration viewers of The Bold and the Beautiful have felt over the years waiting for Ridge to make up his mind between Taylor and Brooke is nothing compared to the show’s real-life cliffhanger in light of the ongoing coronavirus crisis — when is BB returning to production?

The Bold and the Beautiful Production Restart

The show was set to resume work again today, but that didn’t happen. “The Health Department had some additional questions about the lab TV City provided BB with last week, which produced several false positives,” a rep for the show told Deadline.

The good news is the show has not shut down. BB switched testing labs and has resolved all concerns, according to the show. “We have not had, nor do we have, any positive COVID-19 cases and are not ‘shut down,’ but we needed an additional day to provide them with requested information,” the rep added.

The goal is for BB to go back to taping tomorrow, Wednesday, June 24. BB returned to work last week, but the show hit the “pause” button on a return to production while testing protocols were clarified.

Sources are saying that BB used saliva tests to determine if the show could move forward with a return to work. Now, BB has switched over to nasal swab testing which, while they cause discomfort, is believed to be more accurate.

The Bold and the Beautiful History

BB made its debut in 1987 and introduced glitz and glamour to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, three decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more.

From Stephanie’s (Susan Flannery) iron grip on her family to Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) evil schemes to the epic love story of Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), BB knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

It is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Young and the Restless (YR). BB airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
