The Bold and the Beautiful News: Soap To Air Brand-New Shows Next Week

The classics are coming to an end and the current story drought will be over when The Bold and the Beautiful begins airing brand-new episodes one week from today, July 20 for the first time since April.

What you will see next Monday and Tuesday are shows that had already been taped in March, but starting Wednesday you will see new shows taped with COVID-19 in mind to keep actors and crew safe during shooting.

BB and much of the television and film industry shut down production in March when the coronavirus pandemic started tearing its way through the country. Although the pandemic is still ravaging the United States all these months later, safety protocols have been put in place to resume Hollywood productions and The Bold and the Beautiful was the first American TV show to return to set in June.

The Young and the Restless returns to the set on Tuesday of this week, while General Hospital returns next Monday, July 20. Days of our Lives still has episodes to get through October, so they don’t plan to return until September 1.

The Bold and the Beautiful History

BB was created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell and made its debut on March 23, 1987 and introduced glitz and glamour to daytime soap operas. The families that were in the debut episode — the Forresters, Logans, and Spencers — remain in the forefront of the program today.

The show’s most enduring love story is the one between Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) and Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye). BB’s backdrop is the glamorous world of fashion, but the show is known for telling social issue storylines, addressing such topics as homelessness, alcoholism, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s disease, and transgender identity. No longer the new kid on the block, BB is established as one of television’s longest running programs and is one of the world’s most widely watched television shows. Lang and John McCook (Eric) have been with BB since its inception.

Bringing the Drama

BB is one of four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas are General Hospital (GH), Days of our Lives (DAYS), and The Young and the Restless (YR). Bradley Bell serves as the show’s executive producer and head writer. BB airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
