Viewers have been seeing Brooke’s confidante Megan Conley played by Maeve Quinlan, pop up in classic re-airings of The Bold and the Beautiful. Recently, the former Forrester employee made a real-life emotional reconnection with her mom.
“Soooo…. After 4 heartbreakingly long months THIS finally happened TODAY!! 👵👱♀️ 🎉,” Quinlan posted on Instagram, referring to being able to be in the physical presence of her mom following a long separation due to the coronavirus.
“Both COVID free and safely sitting 6ft apart, with masks, robes, and gloves, I cannot express to you the inner joy it was to see my 96-year-old mother in the flesh and not on Face Time or merely talking on the phone,” an emotional Quinlan shared.
“Thank you #CitadelWilmette from the bottom of my family’s hearts for what you have done all of these months safety-wise, precaution-wise, care wise, and just what you have done every step of the way to make this day finally possible. Today was a baby step of hope for the elderly during this very trying time.”
MSN shined a spotlight on Quinlan’s in-person reunion with her mom. “This phase is a very important phase for those facilities that are ready for it,” Quinlan said. “Citadel absolutely is; my mother certainly is; we as a family certainly are. We’ve been looking forward to this day.”
To prepare for her visit with her mom, Quinlan took two screening tests, one upon arrival and was asked about any possible symptoms. She and her mom both wore masks and gowns before sitting a safe distance from one another. In order to help ensure further safety, mother and daughter weren’t allowed to hug so they substituted “air hugs.”
“You have to stay 6 feet away from me,” Quinlan reminded her mom. “We’re not allowed to be closer than this because of the virus.”
Quinlan’s mom loves the scent of Jo Malone perfume so she spritzed on an extra amount on hoping her mom would be able to smell it. The mother and daughter shared a photo album of Mary’s life including family, wedding, and birthday photos. They also shared the most precious gift of all — time.
“It just gives her joy,” Quinlan says of visiting her mom. “It gives purpose to her day. Now it gives her something to look forward to, that that could happen again.” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
