On The Bold and the Beautiful, transgender Maya Avant fought for certain rights so she could live the life she was meant to live. Her portrayer, Karla Mosley, is promoting an event with some Broadway actors to remind viewers that they have rights too — such as the right to vote!
Karla Mosley Is Writing Our Way Out
“This was so much fun!” Mosley posted on Instagram. “Sign on with some #Hamilton cast members, and other special guests to write letters to insecure voters! Help make sure everyone has the IDs they need to exercise their rights this November!
“AND do it all while winning swag, singing along and learning dance moves from the show,” the actress adds. “Did you recently marry and change your name? You might not have the right ID. Is your grandma’s ID up to date? Are you a student or working person who hasn’t had the time or $$ to get your ID straight? Voteriders.org is here to help!!!! For free.”
Mosley’s efforts involved taking pen to paper. “I wrote 30 letters to fellow citizens in Georgia last night,” The Bold and the Beautiful player adds. “The hardest part? I literally don’t think I’ve handwritten that much in 20 years. Hahaha!!! But, the dent in my left middle finger this morning feels bad-ass. 📝 #Vote (oh yeah, a #TIP: if you, like me, can’t find self-adhesive envelopes, use a liiiiiightly damp sponge. Who wants to lick 30 envelopes? 😜)”
“OMG SAME Karla,” responded @zehrafazal. “I was writing postcards last night and after 5 I was like….the muscles in my right hand are NOT what they used to be lol.” Mosley responded: “Riiiiiight?!!!!!!!!! I really had to call on my marathon running stamina to get through…”
Tommar Wilson, who has appeared in the Los Angeles production of Hamilton, told Mosley, “You’re a superhero!!!❤️❤️.” Mosley replied: “Dude – YOU! Thank you so much for looping me in.” The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
