The Bold and the Beautiful News: Joanna Johnson Previews Love in the Time of Corona

The Bold and the Beautiful and other shows are employing Hollywood magic so love scenes can be shot in the age of COVID-19. Original cast member Joanna Johnson, now a writer/executive producer for primetime, is previewing her latest series, which addresses the reality of the coronavirus.

Love in the Time of Corona’s slogan reads: “When you can’t go out, let love in.” As previously reported, the limited series examines relationships and how they’re managing to survive in a time when people are being asked to self-quarantine.

Leslie Odom Jr., a Tony winner for Hamilton, and his wife Nicolette Robinson not only produced the series but appear in it, too. “Produced this alongside my partner in life, crime, and all things Nicolette,” Odom tweeted.

“Thank You @leslieodomjr and Nicolette for being amazing creative partners!” Johnson tweeted. “You brought so much light and joy to this project. It was a delight to work with you.”

In the story, Odom and Robinson play James and Sade, a couple living separate lives, who are forced to re-examine their dynamic after being quarantined.

As veteran BB fans recall, Johnson was part of the show’s original cast. Her character, Caroline Spencer, was in the show’s first quadrangle with Ridge (then, Ronn Moss), Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), and Thorne (first, Clayton Norcross; then, Jeff Trachta). Ridge and Caroline eventually wed, but she died about six months later.

The following year, Johnson returned to the show as Karen, Caroline’s stolen-at-birth twin. Karen had a daughter, whom she named after her late twin, played by Linsey Godfrey (Sarah, Days of our Lives). Johnson last appeared on BB in 2014.

Love in the Time of Coronavirus airs Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd at 8 p.m. on Freeform. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
