Jacob Young has worked on soaps on both coasts, including The Bold and the Beautiful and All My Children. While the New York daytime dramas have sadly all gone to that great soap in the sky, in their day, they afforded actors the opportunity to do both television and Broadway.
When Young appeared on All My Children as JR Chandler, he moonlighted as Lumiere, the candlestick character, in the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast.
“#TBT Hands down, the best memories of my life happened every night in NY on that stage,” Young recently shared on Instagram. “Lumiere ❤️ in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. Thank you @disneyonbroadway @mark_rozzano @blanchmanbusiness @disney 📸: by my dear friend @stevenbergman29.”
Many Broadway stars greet fans who wait for them outside the theater. Young taking a few minutes out of his schedule to do that with supporters left an impression. “@jacob_w_young saw you on Broadway, took our girl scout troop,” @quad_momma posted. “You spent time after taking pictures, signing autographs and talking to everyone. Didn’t rush away…. you’re a classy man, made a wonderful impression on them. I thanked you that day for doing that, it was very kind. Looks like you’re being blessed with lovely daughters. Hope you enjoy girl scout events with them 🙏😎.”
“@quad_momma I would never be where I am without you and the troop!” Young replied. “I love you!❤️❤️❤️”
“I saw you in this also!” posted @misszee_73. “Great job. I think the NYC production even exceeded the already awesome animated movie. ‘Be Our Guest’ was the best number.”
Young made his Broadway debut in Beauty and the Beast in May 2006 and performed as Lumiere for a 10-week run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. After AMC ended in 2011, Young returned to Los Angeles and reprised his role as Rick on BB. Currently, the character is off the canvas, working at Forrester International. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
