The Bold and the Beautiful News: Heather Tom on Katie Forgiving ‘Brill’

The Bold and the Beautiful star Heather Tom is not just one of the show’s stars, but she’s directed episodes of it, too. Therefore, she was an ideal choice to guest on The Talk to preview not only how the show’s handling production during the coronavirus crisis but also give a preview as to what viewers can expect when the show returns with new episodes next week.

“I wasn’t nervous,” Tom says about getting back to the half-hour soap on which she plays Katie Logan Spencer. “I felt like they had us very well taken care of. I knew it was going to be a bit of a learning curve, just because there are many protocols that we are following. Brad [Bell, executive producer/head writer] and the entire production staff had to pay close attention to state regulations and county regulations and city regulations…I think that we are going to set an example for other shows.”

The protocol on the set ensures safety, Tom adds. “We have zones,” the six-time Daytime Emmy-winning actress says. “We have a COVID coordinator on the set who, if we have any kind of questions, concerns, we go to him and he’s able to coordinate that for us…Everyone wants it to work, the entire cast, the entire crew, wants to go back to work.”

Of course, Tom was asked about what viewers can expect in Katie’s story when the show returns. She recently learned that her sister Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and her husband Bill (Don Diamont) shared a kiss — again.

“I feel like Katie will always forgive her sister, she understands Brooke is who she is,” Tom muses. “She couldn’t possibly cut her sister out of her life. I think that she’s, you know, kind of weighing Bill and figuring out, okay clearly this is part of his character, and what am I willing to put up with. I really appreciate that they’ve told a mature story, and recognize that there’s history there.”
