Fan events have taken on a new meaning in light of the coronavirus pandemic. But that’s not stopping actors from The Bold and the Beautiful from connecting with their fans as the show’s anniversary approaches.
The Bold and the Beautiful Milestone Celebration
Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) recently made an announcement on social media that’s of interest to BB fans everywhere!
“Come celebrate with me and the cast of B&B!” Lang wrote on Instagram. “[On] Friday, March 19, I’ll be LIVE streaming a celebratory POP-UP parade in honor of the show’s 34th Anniversary. 12:15 to 1:00 PM PST exclusively on my Instagram @katherinekellylang! Thank you! 😘😘🎉💃🙌🏻 @boldandbeautifulcbs.”
Check out Lang’s Instagram posts below, one of which is a video in which she describes the event that can be viewed on her Instagram. BB is set to celebrate 34 years on television on Wednesday, March 23. The CBS serial debuted nearly three and a half decades ago.
To give you some historical perspective, in 1987, Ronald Reagan was President of the United States, NBC had four of the top-five rated TV shows, all sitcoms: The Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, and The Golden Girls, and the No. 1 song in the country (the week BB premiered) was Lean on Me by Club Nouveau.
Most fans either watched soaps live or recorded them on VCRs. Today, fans still watch in those ways, but there are also other ways including DVRs and streaming platforms including CBS.com and the Paramount Plus app.
In BB’s premiere episode, Ridge (then, Ronn Moss; now, Thorsten Kaye) was at odds with Bill Spencer, Sr. (Jim Storm) over Ridge dating Bill’s daughter Caroline (Joanna Johnson). Also, Brooke narrowly escaped being dragged into a van. Fans weren’t familiar with her but they knew that she was a fighter and wanted to see justice!
Finally, as a preview of galas to come, viewers saw Eric (John McCook) executing a fashion show but from a backstage perspective. It wouldn’t be until later that fans would see Forrester models actually strut down the runway and get the full impact of what a couture presentation was like.
Bradley Bell is BB’s executive producer and head writer. The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
