Hope’s union with Thomas may be history on The Bold and the Beautiful, but the love she feels for his son, Douglas, hasn’t gone away. If Hope ends up getting custody of Douglas it’d be unusual but, then again, the half-hour soap has had its baby dramas over the years.
Here’s a look back at some of the instances in which parents on BB almost lost or did lose guardianship of their children.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Enter Deacon
Amber (Adrienne Frantz) and C.J. (Mick Cain) were about to marry and raise the late Becky’s (Marisa Tait) son. But Rick (Justin Torkildsen), who wanted to disrupt that family unit, lured Deacon (Sean Kanan), the boy’s birth dad, to town to keep Amber and C.J. from marrying. The plan backfired when Deacon wanted custody of his son, changing his name from ‘little Eric’ to ‘little Deke.’
Jack Attack
Taylor (Hunter Tylo) gave birth to a son, Jack, not knowing it was Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) egg that had been accidentally implanted in her. Alas, Taylor, who tried her best, was unable to bond with the newborn, so she turned him over to Brooke for him to raise. It was devastating for Taylor to once again lose to her longtime rival.
The Bold and the Beautiful: Judge Stephanie
Brooke thought she was in the driver’s seat once she’d given birth to daughter Bridget (Ashley Jones) as Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) was likely the tot’s dad.
Then, Stephanie (Susan Flannery) barged into Brooke’s hospital room to let her know that if she tried to take Ridge away from Taylor (Hunter Tylo) then she, Stephanie, would use her social-standing influence to take Brooke’s children away from her.
“I’ll make the pornography of your life an open book for everyone to see and we’ll let the public and the courts decide whether you’re a fit mother or not,” Stephanie threatened.
Will Hope convince Thomas to give her custody of Douglas? Or will Thomas continue to use his son to manipulate Hope’s feelings? Stay tuned to find out. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
