Last week, CBS soap viewers saw one grand soap villainess return and another up-and-coming instigator get her comeuppance on, respectively, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. As a result, each soap saw an increase in its ratings.
According to the Nielsen ratings, The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless reached their largest weekly audiences in six months. The Bold and the Beautiful had 3.07 million viewers and The Young and the Restless had 3.52 million viewers.
What was going on in Los Angeles and in Genoa City last week? The Bold and the Beautiful viewers tuned in to see the wedding of Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan (Tanner Novlan). While the ceremony went off without a hitch, there was a huge surprise when Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) showed up and introduced herself in private to the groom, revealing that she’s his biological mother!
Finn didn’t grasp the enormity of this news and brought Sheila to the wedding reception unaware that she had caused a great deal of harm to his new family. Friday’s cliffhanger was classic soap opera! Soap Hub bestowed its Performer of the Week honors for The Bold and the Beautiful on Novlan for his portrayal of Steffy’s handsome groom.
Meanwhile, over on The Young and the Restless, viewers witnessed the overdue reunion between Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and Summer Newman (Hunter King) after Tara Locke (Elizabeth Leiner) had been exposed as not only the woman who encouraged Summer to leave town but also as an embezzler from her own company.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) was a mother driven to bring both Tara and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) down for separating Summer from Kyle (even though she got her dream job in the process)! Phyllis finally brought Tara down by shining a light on her crimes. She was positively gleeful when the cops took Tara Locke away in handcuffs!
