As Bridget Forrester, Jennifer Finnigan had a famous father in the fashion business in the form of Eric Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful. In real-life, Finnigan’s late pop, Jack Finnigan, was well-known in Canadian broadcasting, and now, he’s been given a big honor.
“So hard to describe how much this human meant to me…my incredible, beloved late dad (or Papa, as I called him) and legendary radio announcer Jack Finnigan, was honored today on the CJAD 800 Wall Of Fame,” Finnigan posted on Instagram. “What an emotional day, from their sweet tribute, to the fans calling in all day to share fond memories of him and the radio station.
“I’ve been without him for 14 years now, and my mom and I still miss him every single day,” the three-time Daytime Emmy-winner shared. “I still mourn that he never knew my husband well nor my little girl, who carries his name (and who looks the most like him).
“He was the kindest, funniest, most selfless man. He was so good at what he did, it was scary,” the actress continues. “He put every listener at ease, his audience felt like he was a friend, and he wry and witty but in the kindest, gentlest way. He taught me to laugh (mostly at myself), and to never take anything too seriously. He taught me to work hard. He taught me to do what I love. He taught me to be humble and kind. He would type out my handwritten school assignments until 2 am, one letter at a time. He would make me midnight snacks.”
Jack Finnigan also had quite a sense of humor. “He would try to embarrass me by singing really loud in public,” the proud daughter recollects. “He would make me laugh till I cried. He would tape every episode of every crappy show I did and watch it 12 times. He would pick up my best friend and I (hi @liz333) at 1 am when we were 15 and got caught sneaking into a nightclub with fake IDs…..and he didn’t say a word.
“He was my best friend, and my hero,” Finnigan warmly shares. “I know how much I loved him, but wow what a beautiful reminder today that the rest of the city loved him too. Love you Papa. Congratulations. What a legacy you left. I know you’re up there somewhere, completely mortified (but secretly proud). You were the last person to toot your own horn. So thanks @cjad800 for tooting it. We love you 💗.”

The actress can next be seen in the Canadian series Feudal. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
