She’s not on soaps right now, but Patrika Darbo (ex-Shirley, The Bold and the Beautiful; ex-Nancy, Days of Our Lives) will always be a fan favorite. The actress recently shared an update about her husband’s health after he was hospitalized a week ago for a heart problem.
“Just talked to Rolf’s heart doctor,” Darbo shared on Instagram. “They have taken the catheter out and he’s off the serious drug I can’t pronounce let alone spell. Numbers improved so they will move him out of ICU, but still not out of woods enough to come home. The doc said they’d have some physical therapy for him since he’s been need ridden for over a week. I’ll keep you posted. Now crying happy!!!!”
In the Instagram post below, you can see Rolf in a hospital bed. He’s smiling and has a copy of a newspaper on his bed. The two, who’ve been wed since December 29, 1973, are receiving messages of support from daytime pals on Instagram.
“He looks fabulous! I am absolutely thrilled and happy for you both!” posted Kate Linder (The Young and the Restless). Darbo’s former DAYS co-star, Kristian Alfonso (ex-Hope), posted: “🙏🙏🙏.” Another former DAYS co-star, Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Dario; now, Rey, YR), like Alfonso, used emoticons to express his feelings: “🙌🙌🙌🙏🙏🙏.”
Darbo first made the daytime scene playing the character of Sally on General Hospital in 1986. The actress, who has amassed a slew of nighttime credits, returned to soaps in 1998 as Nancy Wesley, Chloe’s (Nadia Bjorlin) mother. She reprised the role last year in the DAYS app series Last Blast Reunion. She’s also appeared in the web series The Bay and Studio City. Darbo won a Prime Time Emmy for Outstanding Actress in a Short Form Comedy or Drama Series in Acting Dead as Margot Mullen.
In 2017, Darbo joined the cast of BB as Shirley, the sister of Sally Spectra, the character played by the late Darlene Conley. While Sally is living the highlife overseas, Shirley along with her granddaughter Sally (Courtney Hope), Saul Feinberg (Alex Wyse) and Darlita (Danube Hermosillo) brought Spectra Fashions back to life. They made a valiant effort, but finances got the better of the Spectra gang and there was just no coming back after Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) blew up the building.
Soap Hub sends thoughts and prayers to Rolf and Patrika, wishing him a continued recovery. The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
