In 1997, Young placed an ad in magazine Variety Junior and was discovered by casting directors at the CBS daytime soap opera the Bold and the Beautiful and immediately hired to take on the role of Rick Forrester, an important legacy character being SORAS’d

He played the part until 1999 before departing and one year later was cast on another daytime soap — ABC’s General Hospital — as yet another legacy character in need of a makeover. This time Young portrayed Lucky Spencer the son of the iconic Luke and Laura.

He stayed with GH until February of 2003 and won the 2002 Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series Award at the Daytime Emmys. Eight months later, Young relocated to the East Coast and joined All My Children as J.R. Chandler.

His stay at All My Children proved to be his longest and he remained there until the show’s final episode in 2011.

That same year he accepted an offer to return to BB as his old character, Rick. There he became apart of daytime television history when Rick married Maya Avant, who had been revealed to be transsexual.

Outside of daytime, Young has performed on Broadway in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, starred in the 2000 TV mini-series The Beach Boys: An American Family and appeared as a guest on the sitcom Hope and Faith.
