Soap Opera Ratings News: The Bold and the Beautiful Takes Top Spot

The Bold and the Beautiful returned with new episodes last week. Viewers tuned in, pushing the half-hour soap to the top spot among daytime dramas in the soap opera ratings race.

The Bold and the Beautiful Back On Top

The Bold and the Beautiful, which aired original episodes for the first time since last April, was first in Households (1.6) and viewers (2.10 million). Days of our Lives, also airing original episodes, and The Young and the Restless (airing classic episodes) tied for second place with a 1.4 in Households and 1.89 in viewers. General Hospital re-runs have not been counted in ratings, but new episodes will next week.

Last week, BB viewers saw the tearful reunion between Wyatt (Darin Brooks) and Flo (Katrina Bowden), who was tied to a radiator in Sally’s (Courtney Hope) apartment. Flo showed her ingenuity by writing a message on the back of Sally’s underwear, asking Wyatt for help. A suspicious Wyatt spotted the plea for aid and demanded Sally let him know where Flo was.

Meanwhile, Bill (Don Diamont) accidentally struck a motorcycle-riding Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) while she was out for a ride. Steffy wound up in the hospital under the care of a hot new physician on the show — Dr. John “Finn” Finnegan, played by Tanner Novlan.

Even though Steffy and Liam (Scott Clifton) shared a kiss not that long ago, he recently wed Hope (Annika Noelle). Is a Steffy/Finn romance in the offing? She wouldn’t be the first person to fall in love with her doctor!

Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke appear to be making up but will the events of Ridge’s recent trip to Las Vegas to see Shauna (Denise Richards) change all that? Also, when YR returns, will The Bold and the Beautiful remain on top?

BB debuted on March 23, 1987. The serial was created by the late William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell. Bradley Bell serves as executive producer and head writer. The series has won three Daytime Emmys for Outstanding Drama Series in 2009, 2010, and 2011. Two of the show’s original cast members, John McCook (Eric) and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke), remain with the show today. BB airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
