Susan Flannery reprised her role as Stephanie on The Bold and the Beautiful at Ridge and Brooke’s wedding earlier this year. Now, she’s celebrating her own special day; her birthday!
The four-time Emmy-winning actress was born on July 31, 1939, which makes her 79 years young today.
She first came to the attention of soap fans as Laura Spencer Horton on Days of Our Lives. She won her first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1975.
After leaving Salem, she focused on primetime and films. Her notable credits outside of daytime soaps include The Towering Inferno and Dallas.
Flannery made a triumphant return to daytime soaps in 1987 as Stephanie Douglas Forrester on B&B and was a hit on day one! Well, technically, day two since Flannery didn’t appear until the show’s second episode!
After a 25-year run as Stephanie, Flannery opted to leave the show but has remained active as a director on the Freeform series The Fosters and the Web series Venice.
Flannery won three Daytime Emmys for playing Stephanie and was nominated a total of nine times for her role as the Forrester matriarch.
While Stephanie died on camera in 2012, Flannery voiced the character of Stephanie at Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke’s (Katherine Kelly Lang) wedding as she gave her blessing to the bride — though as regular B&B fans know Stephanie wasn’t always supportive of Brooke!
Soap Hub joins Flannery’s family, friends, and fans in wishing the actress a happy birthday and many happy returns!
