Soap Hub editors are paying tribute to outstanding performances and the clear choice for this week’s star on The Bold and the Beautiful is Scott Clifton. His character, Liam Spencer, was loaded for bear when he showed up at Thomas’ apartment. The publishing heir has learned to be on his guard around Thomas, but the last thing he expected to find was a mannequin in the form of his wife, Hope, in Thomas’ living room!
Scott Clifton: Performer Of The Week
As a result, Clifton, a three-time Daytime Emmy-winner, got to play a range of emotions that included anger, confusion, and passion! Thomas (Matthew Atkinson) had to think quickly on his feet when his unannounced visitor spied the Hope (Annika Noelle) mannequin, whom Thomas is imagining is talking to him. The designer did his level best to put Liam on the offense, but Clifton plays Liam as a man who’s learned to be on his guard around Thomas.
At first, Liam couldn’t believe what he was seeing when he spied the mannequin, but he still knew something was amiss despite Thomas’s partially-credible remarks that the doll was being used for work. Clifton didn’t lessen Liam’s intensity, demanding to know what Thomas was truly doing with the plastic image of his wife.
Liam took a few moments to fully absorb the similarities between Hope and the Hope mannequin, almost getting lost in the process. He snapped back into reality and demanded to know what was going on and he refused to buy any of Thomas’ lies. “I assume it really helps to have that mannequin look conspicuously like a woman with whom you have an obsession!” Liam shot back, shooting down Thomas’ credibility.
The absurdity of the situation escalated after Thomas barked at Liam not to touch her (oops), referring to the mannequin. “Her?” Liam incredulously responded. Thomas’s slip of the tongue pushed Liam over the edge into believing that something serious was going on.
Thomas covered by rhetorically asking what’s the difference between saying “her” or “it,” being relentless in trying to turn the tables on Liam. Even though Thomas is losing control of his mental faculties, he’s still cognizant enough to hit Liam with the most powerful weapon of all – the truth. But while Thomas may have a point in that Liam can’t extricate himself fully from Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), Liam continued to order Thomas to back off!
Thomas went for the jugular by telling Liam that him vacillating between Hope and Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) will eventually harm his daughters, Beth and Kelly, as they’ll be confused about Liam’s relationship with their respective mothers.
Liam, however, didn’t let Thomas get to him and stormed out, saying that Thomas wasn’t right in the head. He may have meant that as a figure of speech, but BB viewers know that’s exactly what’s going on. Next, Thomas imagined the Hope mannequin telling him to kill Liam! Yikes!
Clifton’s next challenge will be getting those around Liam to comprehend there’s an issue here that needs to be addressed. Will he be successful? Stay tuned! The Bold and the Beautiful airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
