On The Bold and the Beautiful, everything old is new again. And again. And again.
Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) and Brooke are back together. Again. Steffy can’t decide between Wyatt and Liam. Again.
Should the nearly 30-year-old show stop recycling stories and situations, or should they stick with what they know works? Here’s what almost 2,500 of you had to say on the subject.
The Bold Feels Old
In a landslide, 95% of viewers shouted “Yes!” Could we please have some new stories? Why should even a groundbreaking soap-opera couple like Maya (Karla Mosley) and Rick fall prey to the same old baby rabies – twice?
How long is a supposed player like Bill going to let himself get played by Brooke? And, Eric, how many controlling ball-breakers do you plan to marry in one lifetime?
Sure Thing
Then again, if it ain’t broke, should you really be trying to fix it? It seems that 3% of fans weren’t certain if they were ready for a B&B where no one was trying to take over Forrester Creations, or Katie (Heather Tom) was a well-adjusted individual without the self-destructive insecurities that are always her worst enemy. Maybe we should all just stay the course for now.
Going Green
Still, 2% of voters proved to be staunch environmentalists, as they confidently asserted, “No, I like these recycled (stories).” These folks, presumably, are all about endless love triangles and characters that learn their lesson one week… only to forget them the next.
They are the fans Bradley Bell is counting on to keep B&B at the top of the ratings in America and abroad as they head into their 30th year of broadcasting.
