The Bold and the Beautiful just got a little bit more beautiful. Actor Gilles Marini (Switched at Birth) will play a doctor on the show this summer.

ET online reported the casting news first that Marini will portray a doctor who will give some medical care to one of the B&B characters traveling to Monte Carlo.

B&B Veteran

This is Marini’s third stint on B&B. In 2005, he played the part of a French waiter on the show. Two years later, he portrayed the character of Jean Claude.

The charming Marini made a hit behind the scenes at B&B. Assistant director Jenn Scott Christiansen posed for a photo with Marini.

“Anyone who knows Sex and the City knows that I have the greatest job in town…” Christiansen included in her post. “He is truly one of the nicest people I’ve worked with. Just lovely.”

Marini first came to the public eye not in the TV series Sex and the City, but rather the feaure film chronicling the antics of Carrie and company. The actor played Dante, Samantha’s naked neighbor in California.

The talked-about role helped catapult the actor into other projects. He came in second in season 8 of Dancing With the Stars and returned for the All-Stars Season a few years later.

Always in Fashion
B&B has featured dueling Forrester/Spectra fashion shows since 1989 when Sally manipulated the Forresters into doing a gown presentation for charity.

Scandal erupted when the Forrester and Spectra showstoppers appeared on the runway. The gowns appeared to have a lot in common — and why wouldn’t they, as they were both designed by Clarke Garrison (aka Beau Rivage).

As this is likely a new character, Marini is introducing to the show, the actor just may be eligible for next year’s Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Drama Series.

B&B’s had quite the winning streak in this category since it was re-instated at the Daytime Emmys. In 2015, Fred Willard (ex-John) won the award, tying with Donna Mills (ex-Madeline, General Hospital) and Ray Wise (ex-Ian, The Young and the Restless).

In 2016, Obba Babatundé (Julius) won the statuette. And in April, Jim O’Heir (Parks & Recreation) took home the gold for his portrayal of an airline passenger!
