Steffy may be losing her role as Liam’s wife on The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), but she’s still carrying his child and taking care of herself — which means going to the doctor. The show has cast a primetime star as her obstetrician.
Actress Robin Givens, who recurs as Mayor Sierra McCoy on The CW drama Riverdale, has been hired to play Dr. Phillips, Steffy’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) doctor.
EW.com broke the casting news. Givens will appear in a three-episode arc.
Is that character named after soap opera pioneer Irna Phillips? Perhaps. She was the mentor to late B&B co-creator William J. Bell, father of current B&B showrunner Bradley Bell.
Either way, Givens comes to the role with a soap opera tie. The actress appeared on Guiding Light in 1985 as a dancer in Lujack’s video Out In The Street, which you can see below.
The Bold and the Beautiful (B&B) airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for airtimes.
